About Us

Tweeddale Youth Action is a youth led organisation that gives young people a safe space and alternative to bus stops and street corners. Through providing free opportunities for all we support young people to access advice, develop skills, confidence, a sense of belonging and responsibility within the community. Our mission is to support young people on their journey from childhood to adulthood and we work with young people between the ages of 10-25. We operate Peebles Youth Club from the Old Corn Exchange on School Brae in Peebles and Innerleithen Youth Club from 24 Chapel Street, Innerleithen We believe passionately in encouraging young people to play an active role in community life and we've worked hard to become part of the community and give our young members the opportunity to show the valuable contribution they can and do make. Examples of our community involvement include the Big Sunday community barbecue, Beltane Fancy Dress Parade, Innerleithen Fancy Dress Parade, Christmas lights Switch On and involvement in the Peebles Arts Festival among many others. With our staff and volunteer team we deliver 4 evening drop-in sessions, weekly cookery classes, weekly bike maintenance classes and weekly textiles and arts and crafts classes. We offer one to one support and advice on a wide range of issues, including sexual health where we distribute free contraception through the Borders C-card initiative as well as signposting services to young people that need specialist help. We also arrange regular trips away, including residential trips which in the past year has included trips to: Mull, Callander, London, Alton towers, Berwickshire beaches, Edinburgh Museum, Art galleries and much more. We are also proud to boast Innerleithen’s best kept secret, a fully functioning recording studio which has recently been joined by a stage with which we aim to support young contemporary musicians to get themselves out there. Best of all, we are able to deliver all of our projects and activities for free, enabling all to take part, regardless of ability to pay. We are able to do this through funding and support from a wide array of sources including members parents, Rotary Club, SBC, Scottish Government, local businesses, charitable trusts and foundations as well as our own fund raising initiatives. We are very grateful for the support we receive from the community and seek to work in partnership with any organisation or individual that shares our passion for providing opportunities for young people.
