Peebles and Innerleithen Christmas Lights Switch On!
After many months of hard work by youth club members, volunteers and staff we ran our Christmas stall at Peebles Christmas Lights Switch On last Thursday and opened up our new youth club for Innerleithen Christmas Lights Switch On on Sunday.
Huge thanks go to all the volunteers, youth club members and staff involved!
This was a great opportunity to promote the positive contribution that young people can and do make to community life and helped raise some much needed funds, as well as giving us a good excuse to have fun, learning how to make decorations, mince pies and Christmas cake.
Despite the foul weather there was a good turn out in Peebles on Thursday and thankfully the rain held off while we were in Innerleithen, allowing our face painter extrordinaire, Heather, to work her magic.
We were also able to give 7 free bikes back into the community as part of our Climate Challenge funded project. These bikes are some of the many that have been donated to our Bike Punks project and our youth club members have learnt some valuable bike maintenance and repairing skills to get these and many others to a safe and usable condition.
We still have several bikes available for free to those who don't have a bike and would like one. If you'd like one of our free bikes, please get in touch!
