Our mission is to support young people aged 10-25 on their journey from childhood to adulthood. We believe passionately in encouraging young people to play an active role in community life and giving our members the opportunity to show the valuable contribution they can and do make.
Tweeddale Youth Action gives young people a safe space and an alternative to bus stops and street corners. Through providing free opportunities for all, we help young people to develop skills, grow in confidence, make smart choices, take responsibility and, ultimately, feel that sense of belonging within their community that we all need.
With youth clubs in both Peebles and Innerleithen, our staff and volunteer team deliver four weekly evening drop-in sessions, as well as one-to-one support through our Stepping Stones programme, groupwork and youth-led projects covering everything from art to sport to metalwork in our Bike Punks workshop.
Our social enterprise, Food Punks, gives our young people the chance to learn cookery skills from professional chefs and gain valuable experience catering outside events.
We offer information and support on a wide range of issues, including positive relationships, mental wellbeing, online safety and alcohol awareness - to name just a few! We promote sexual health, distributing free contraception through the NHS Borders c:card initiative and, where necessary, we signpost our young people on to the relevant support service.
Our school holiday activity programmes and regular trips away are a popular way to broaden the experiences of our young people.
We deliver all of our projects, trips and activities for free, enabling all to take part.
We are only able to do this through funding and support from a wide array of sources, including Scottish Borders Council, Scottish Government, local businesses, charitable trusts and foundations, as well as our own fund-raising initiatives.
The support we receive from the local community is vital and we’re always looking to work in partnership with any organisation or individual that shares our passion for providing opportunities for young people.
