Looking back at 2020...
Well, what a year for all of us! Since March we have faced a pandemic which has caused upset, challenges and worries for everyone.
Here at Tweeddale Youth Action we have done our best to rise to the challenge of continuing to offer support, activities and some cheer for our young people throughout the period of lockdown and other restrictions.
We have offered phone support, weekly cooking sessions via Zoom, craft sessions, treat bags, sanity packs, quizzes and a few competitions as well as twice daily telephone and internet support. In the Summer, when we were finally allowed to, we were delighted to finally meet our youth club members outdoors to break bread and have some fun with BBQs, walks, fishing, games & football, just to mention a few activities.
Come August and we were finally able to reopen our drop ins. Slightly different with Covid safety measures but still the same atmosphere and possibility to get together, meet & socialise which has proven to be so very important to everybody’s happiness and well-being. Food Punks have been particularly busy, including an exciting cupcake project we were sponsored to deliver; baking cupcakes & delivering them to local businesses to thank them for their commitment to serving the community during lockdown. This was a great initiative and brought some real cheer ☺
So, through these photos we look back at what we did - with more to come! Alongside our casual access drop-in sessions we have also started a new Homework Club, weekly 5-a-side football session and new Food Punks sessions on the horizon shortly.
This year has proved that difficulties are also opportunities to change and adapt and we sincerely hope we have managed to do that!
